McLane's Poetry unit
This poetry unit is small and sweet - we learn about the figurative language used in poetry to create descriptive imagery and play with language. Then we learn about several types of poems and will try writing our own.

Writing your own poems:
- Be sure when you begin writing your poems that you are using the strongest, most interesting language possible.
- Unless repetition is your intent, do not use the same word over and over again in a poem
- Write from a place of strong emotion or memory - if there is no emotion or powerful thing behind your poem, it will likely be dull. Write about things that are important to you
